Dr. Alexander Sorin graduated with honors from The Johns Hopkins University and received his medical degree from the New York University School of Medicine. He completed a residency in Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery at New York University where he trained in the management of all aspects of adult and pediatric ear, nose and throat disorders. Dr. Sorin went on to attain greater expertise in the area of hearing, dizziness and balance disorders by completing a fellowship in Otology and Neurotology in Minneapolis, Minnesota with Michael M. Paparella MD, a world-renowned expert in hearing and balance disorders. He is a member of the American Neurotology Society, a surgical member of Beth Israel/New York Eye & Ear Cochlear Implant Center in New York City and is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Division of Otolaryngology at the State University of New York at Stony Brook.
Dr. Sorin is a diplomat of the American Academy of Otolaryngology. He presented nationally and has published articles in leading journals on the clinical and surgical management of adult and pediatric ear, nose and throat disorders. Some areas of research include pediatric and adult hearing restoration, advanced paranasal sinus disease, innovative and minimally invasive management of pediatric airway and tonsil disorders and the surgical management of head and neck conditions. He is expertly trained in the use of the latest surgical technology, including lasers, coblation, 3-D image guided sinus surgery, paranasal sinus balloon procedures and other minimally invasive surgical techniques.
Beyond his medical practice, Dr. Sorin is a member of a non-for-profit humanitarian group, Medical Missions for Children. As a surgeon, he cared for hundreds of underserved children in third-world countries born with disfiguring conditions, including ears malformation (microtia), cleft lip and cleft palate. He is a member of the North Shore-Long Island Jewish Hospital Hagedorn Cleft Palate and Craniofacial Center. Future plans include continued travel abroad to treat children and adults suffering with aggressive ear disease and correctable surgical hearing loss.

Dr. Sorin holds the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor in the Division of Otolaryngology at State University of New York at Stony Brook, where he lectures and is involved in direct surgical training of residents. He is a staff attending and performs surgeries at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, St. Francis Hospital and Winthrop University Hospital.
Dr. Sorin’s interests include the medical and surgical management of the following disorders:
Ear, Dizziness and Balance Disorders - ear infections and chronic ear disease including cholesteatoma, cochlear implants, eardrum perforations, hearing restoration, Eustachian tube dysfunction, Meniere’s disease, balance disorders, vertigo, tinnitus, Bell’s palsy and other disorders of facial weakness, ear trauma and ear tumors (ie. acoustic neuroma, glomus tumors).
Nose and Sinuses primary and revision sinus surgery, advanced and recurrent nasal and sinus infections, allergy, nasal polyps, nasal obstruction, nasal septal deviation, sinus headache and all aspects of endoscopic and minimally invasive sinus surgery.
Pediatric Conditions - adenoid and tonsil disorders, obstructive sleep apnea, ear infections, congenital and pediatric hearing loss, cochlear implants and other listening devices, noisy breathing, speech and swallowing disorders, nasal obstruction, hoarseness and pediatric tumors and cysts of the head and neck.
Snoring, Sleep Apnea and Sleep Disorder Breathing select procedures performed in the office.
Voice and Swallowing voice abnormalities, hoarseness, cough, reflux disease, vocal cord paralysis and swallowing disorders.
Head and Neck Conditions including salivary gland infections, salivary gland tumors, thyroid disorders, oral cavity lesions, lymph nodes and other masses in the head and neck.
